The rapid advancement of modernisation, digitalisation, and globalisation has significantly influenced social and cultural transformations in Indonesia, contributing to the erosion of traditional values and the weakening of younger generations’ understanding of Pancasila as the national ideology. In response to these challenges, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) continue to play a strategic role in preserving and transmitting national values through culturally embedded educational practices. This study aims to examine the communication strategy employed in internalising Pancasila values through the Qasidah curriculum at the Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School in Kapurejo, Pagu, Kediri. A qualitative research design was adopted using a phenomenological approach to explore participants’ lived experiences and interpretations. Data were analysed through a constructivist perspective to understand how meanings of nationalism and citizenship are socially constructed within the pesantren environment. The findings reveal that the internalisation of Pancasila values is effectively communicated through the Qasidah “Kita Anak Pelajar Salafiyah Indonesia,” which serves as both a religious and educational medium. The lyrics symbolically represent all five principles of Pancasila. The first principle is reflected in the promotion of faith, religious tolerance, and moderation; the second emphasises humanity, morality, and respect for others; the third fosters patriotism, national identity, and unity; the fourth encourages democratic participation and respect for human dignity in civic life; and the fifth promotes social justice through the balance of rights and responsibilities. These values are continuously reinforced through collective performances, religious instruction, and daily social interactions within the pesantren. The study concludes that Qasidah functions not only as a form of Islamic artistic expression but also as an effective communication strategy for character education and the transmission of Pancasila values, contributing to the development of moderate, responsible, and nationally conscious citizens.
